Directions: Students will complete all three online tutorials using at least one photograph from their personal photo library. This could be simply an image of themselves or of friends. Please click on each link to be directed to the website where the directions are written out. See my notes below each link for they contain information that I discovered as I completed the online tutorial. This might help in the process. The purpose of completing this is for student to learn how to follow directions, to use a variety of Photoshop's filters, and the combination of layering techniques.

In this site, I tried the effects and found a few steps missing. First, make sure the foreground color is set to black and the background color is set to white. This will create the Photocopy effect that the site is requiring. Pay attention to the settings for the Photocopy Filter. The details needs to be set to 24 and the darkness set to 10. My example:

For this tutorial, things that I found confusing were the layer mask. When they ask to load the selection back in (step 12 for example is especially confusing) remember to load the selection you created for the person that you are using. Then go to layer, layer mask, reveal selection. Also, follow the steps precisely and find a newspaper image and a burnt paper image from the internet. It is also best to find a portrait that is dark at the bottom. The more black space you have, the cooler this image will look.

The control-left click option is actually holding down the command key instead of the control key and clicking. This will load the selection. Otherwise, if you follow the steps accurately, you'll get it.
